Everbright International Actively Participates in 2013 National Science Popularization Day

September 13, 2013, Hong Kong - China Everbright International Limited ("Everbright International" or the "Group") is pleased to announce that it has been invited by the Chinese Society for Environmental Sciences, an organization under the Ministry of Environmental Protection, to participate in this year's National Science Popularization Day, which co-hosted by the China Association for Science and Technology, Ministry of Education and Ministry of Environmental Protection. The theme of the 2013 National Science Popularization Day is environmental protection, with the main event to be held in Beijing from 14 to 20 September, and further activities organized in several cities across the country.

Initiated by the China Association for Science and Technology, National Science Popularization Day features a series of events led by various science and technology organizations throughout China in honour of the implementation of the "Popularization of Science and Technology Law of the People's Republic of China". In previous years, the themes of National Science Popularization Day have included technological development, energy conservation, food safety and disease prevention, which have all drawn considerable attention from the central leadership.

This year's theme is "Preserving an Ecological Environment and Building a Beautiful China", which closely relates to the key businesses of Everbright International. In order to actively participate in the event, Everbright International co-organized a display on household waste treatment and resources utilization at the main venue in Beijing together with the Chinese Society for Environmental Sciences, and also ran events of a similar theme in 27 project sites located across the country, including Shenzhen, Nanjing, Suzhou and Jinan. Through the exhibition boards, videos, interactive games, visual aids and seminars etc., the activities promoted knowledge of waste treatment, collection and classification, and demonstrated the waste-to-energy process and contamination control. The events enhanced public awareness of environmental protection by encouraging participation in household waste reduction, classification and collection, and educating people about the benefits of scientific and efficient methods of household waste treatment.
