Everbright International Obtains Anhui Dangshan Waste-to-energy Project
A Cogeneration Pilot Project of Urban-Rural Waste Integrated Treatment
22 April 2014, Hong Kong – China Everbright International Limited ("Everbright International" or the "Group") (HKSE: 00257) is pleased to announce that it has signed a concession agreement with the Dangshan County Municipal People's Government, Anhui Province ("Dangshan County Government"), for the investment and construction of a household waste-to-energy project in Dangshan County ("Dangshan Project" or the "Project").Dangshan Project is the Group's pilot project, which combines electricity generation and heat supply. The Project will be invested and constructed on a BOO (Build-Operate-Own) basis. It is designed with a total daily household waste processing capacity of 700 tonnes, and will be constructed in two phases. Phase I is designed with a daily household waste processing capacity of 400 tonnes, with a total investment of approximately RMB250 million. All gas emissions will comply with the Euro 2000 Standard and it is expected to commerce commercial operation at the end of 2015.
Dangshan Project will improve the quality of the local environment through implementing harmless treatment of household waste in Dangshan County, to avoid secondary pollution caused by the use of landfills. Meanwhile, the relevant government authorities of Dangshan County have committed to assist with the collection of waste from surrounding areas. This will result in coordinated waste management across the counties and accelerate the progress of the Project Phase II.
Mr. Chen Xiaoping, CEO of Everbright International, said, "Situated next to the Group's Dangshan Biomass Power Generation Project, Dangshan Project is the second environmental protection project which the Group has invested in Dangshan County. The two projects are used for the treatment of agricultural straws and urban waste respectively. The innovation and breakthrough of Dangshan Project's cogeneration model will provide the Group with tremendous opportunities by creating a new way in integrated treatment of urban-rural waste across counties and cities. In addition, synergy will be achieved between the two project companies through the sharing of the office space and some of the facilities, resulting in lower construction costs, as well as realizing our mission for energy conservation and carbon-emission reduction. Riding on our extensive experience, Everbright International will introduce advanced technology to help the Dangshan County Government and contribute to the sustainable development of the local community."
