Everbright International Environmental Protection Charitable Foundation is the Lead Sponsor of Earth Hour Hong Kong for the Second Consecutive Year

The Community is Called On to Reduce Consumption of Resources and Energyand Promote the Use of Clean Energy to Achieve Sustainable Development

28 March 2015, Hong Kong - The countdown of Earth Hour Hong Kong 2015 was successfully held at 8:30pm on 28 March at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Piazza in Tsim Sha Tsui. Everbright International Environmental Protection Charitable Foundation, founded by China Everbright International Limited ("Everbright International" or the "Group") (Hong Kong Stock Code: 00257), was the lead sponsor of the annual global environmental protection campaign for the second consecutive year. Government House, the Chief Executive's office, the Legislative Council complex, Tsing Ma Bridge, numerous other landmark buildings and over 3,900 companies and buildings in Hong Kong showed their support by switching off their lights. Mr. Raymond Wong, Chief Financial Officer of Everbright International and Director of Everbright International Environmental Protection Charitable Foundation, WWF-HK and government officials, hosted the countdown ceremony and witnessed the poignant "lights-out" moment which showed the devotion of Asia's world city to promote environmental protection.

Hosted by the WWF-HK, Earth Hour Hong Kong 2015, with the theme of "One Hour for One Bright Future", encourages citizens to change their lifestyle and reduce energy consumption and their ecological footprint. The campaign calls for people to put the concept of environmental protection into action by consuming less resources and energy, promoting the use of clean energy and making a collective effort to commit to environmental protection through a sustainable lifestyle.

Mr. Raymond Wong said in his speech, "This is the second consecutive year the Foundation becomes the lead sponsor of Earth Hour Hong Kong and we consider it to be one of our most important projects. Everbright International has always supported conservation, ecological footprint as well as environmental education in Hong Kong. We also agree on the environmental concept behind Earth Hour and firmly believe that 'An Enterprise is not only the creator of wealth, but also the safeguard of environmental and social responsibility' ".

Mr. Wong continued, "An individual's power may not be strong, but together we can work to change the fate of the Earth. Earth Hour's lights-out action spreads the message to everyone effectively. If each person avoids the unnecessary consumption of resources and energy in our daily lives, this will help contribute to the earth's sustainable development."
