11 September 2015, Hong Kong - China Everbright International Limited ("Everbright International" or the "Group") (HKSE: 00257) is pleased to announce that its Zhejiang Ningbo Beilun Waste-to-energy Project ("Ningbo Project" or "the Project") Phase II has completed construction and commenced operation.Ningbo Project Phase II commenced construction in December 2014. After successfully passing the "72+24" hours trial run in September 2015, it officially commenced commercial operation and has been connected to the national power grid ever since. The Project Phase II set a record in construction time, taking little more than 8 months to complete. It commands a total investment of RMB190 million, with a designed daily household waste processing capacity of 500 tonnes and its gas emissions fully comply with the Euro 2000 Standard. Together with the Project Phase I, Ningbo Project has a total daily household waste processing capacity of 1,500 tonnes, making it the largest household waste-to-energy project in Ningbo. It is expected to generate over 168,000,000 kWh of green electricity annually.
Mr. Chen Xiaoping, CEO of Everbright International, said, "Ningbo Project is Everbright International's first waste-to-energy project in Zhejiang Province. Since Project Phase I commenced operation, the waste treatment pressure in the city has been alleviated, improving Ningbo's overall urban environment. Due to the increase in waste generated in the city, the Group secured Ningbo Project Phase II in 2014. Adhering to the construction philosophy of "First Class Quality, High Standard, Advanced Technology and Outstanding Efficiency", the Group steadily advanced project construction. The commencement and operation of Project Phase II is an important milestone for the Group's development in the environmental protection sector in Zhejiang Province. Ningbo Project will commit to maintaining safe production and stable operation in compliance with relevant discharge standards, aiming to become a new landmark along the coastal area of East China Sea."
