Everbright International Secures Lingshui Waste-to-energy and Food Waste Treatment Project in Hainan Province

14 September 2017, Hong Kong – China Everbright International Limited ("Everbright International" or the "Group") (HKSE: 00257) is pleased to announce that the Group has won the bid for Lingshui Li Autonomous County Waste-to-energy and Food Waste Treatment Project in Hainan Province ("Lingshui Waste-to-energy and Food Waste Project" or the "Project"), and has signed a concession agreement with the People's Government of Lingshui Li Autonomous County ("Lingshui County") to invest in and construct the Project, which consists of two subsidiary projects, Lingshui Waste-to-energy Project and Lingshui Food Waste Treatment Project. The Project commands a total investment of approximately RMB 486 million.

According to the concession agreement, Lingshui Waste-to-energy and Food Waste Project will be invested in and constructed on a BOT (Build-Operate-Transfer) model for a concession period of 30 years. The Project has a designed daily household waste processing capacity of 1,050 tonnes and a daily food waste treatment capacity of 200 tonnes. It will be constructed in two phases. Equipped with two self-developed 350 tonnes/day mechanic grate furnaces and a 18MW turbine power generator, the Project Phase I is designed to have a daily household waste processing capacity of 700 tonnes and a daily food waste treatment capacity of 100 tonnes. It is expected to generate 71,540,000 kWh of green electricity annually and its gas emissions will fully comply with the Euro 2010 Standard.

Lingshui County locates in the southeast of Hainan Island, which at the point that separates the tropic and sub-tropic zones. It has unique natural resources with rich historical relics and dynamic folk customs, making it a cultural destination for tourists. Also, the county holds the honor of the "Pearl of the Coast" due to its pleasant climate, gorgeous coastline and unique folk culture.

Lingshui waste-to-energy Project is the Group's third waste-to-energy project in Hainan Province. It will serve as a core facility inside the industrial park and create the necessary conditions to facilitate the co-processing and synergies among projects that focus on different types of waste treatment, such as food waste treatment, medical waste treatment, sludge disposal, animal carcass harmless treatment and electronic waste treatment. This will help to ultimately achieve the reduction, reuse and harmless treatment of all kinds of waste for Lingshui County, facilitate preserving the beautiful coastal areas of Lingshui, and support the sound development of the International Tourism Island through further environmental protection efforts."
