Everbright International Holds Meetings with Representatives of the Nanjing and Suzhou Regional Centers of the Company's Environmental Energy Sector
China Everbright International Limited CEO Wang Tianyi went to the company's Nanjing Waste-to-energy Project and Wujiang Waste-to-energy Project during a recent visit to Jiangsu Province, where he held meetings with representatives of the Nanjing and Suzhou Regional Centers of the company's environmental energy sector, to discuss demands and suggestions at project level and also to deploy work.
During the meetings, Mr. Wang listened to briefings and suggestions on project investment, construction and operation by the reginal center representatives for the Nanjing and Suzhou regions. He listened to the demands and difficulties relating to project development, and exchanged views on construction engineering, operations management, brand promotion and financial management. He also responded to questions related to business exploration and staff benefits, which many frontline staff care about.
Mr. Wang said, as the leading enterprise to deliver China Everbright Group's "Four, Three, Three" Initiative, China Everbright International Limited ("Everbright International") has been forging ahead towards its target of establishing a world's leading ecological and environmental group. In the first half of the year, the company overcame external difficulties like the pandemic, and achieved satisfactory business results, creating a good foundation to meet its full-year target. In recent years, Everbright International has gradually reached new levels, realising the "Two Largest" for China's largest environmental protection enterprise and the world's largest waste-to-energy investor and operator. The company has also achieved the "Two Best" for being selected as the Most Honored Company for four consecutive years and shortlisted in the Top 10 Firms with Highest Corporate Governance Index Scores by the Hong Kong Institute of Directors.
He also said, entering a new development phase, Everbright International is facing unprecedented pressures. Under pressure and challenges from the industry's policy reform and the company's internal transformation, Everbright International needs to learn from the difficulties and prepare for challenges through proactive achievements. Upholding the enterprise's essential strategy, the company should adjust its tactics over time in order to effectively solve problems.
Considering the current business focuses, Mr. Wang proposed five requirements:
(1) The company shall implement the "Three, Five, Eight, Seven" development strategy for the integrated development in the areas of environment, resource and energy. It will leverage waste sorting, resource recycling and utilisation, and energy-saving lighting as breakthroughs to nurture synergies between the resource and energy areas.
(2) The company shall optimise investment and salary management. By leveraging project parity and diversification of employment, it aims to increase IRR and share development outcomes with its staff.
(3) The company shall improve its business synergy in four areas – namely incineration, industrial parks, industry value chain and business sectors – to promote value creation and realise "asset-light, high-technology and high-return".
(4) The company shall promote the homogenisation of management. By utilising management communications, the company aims to improve the capability of its senior staff from all business sectors and regions, so as to nurture balanced development of all the eight major business sectors of the company.
(5) The company shall promote the digitalised management. By establishing an integrated information system across all departments, business sectors and levels, the company aims to enhance its managerial efficiency and brand image via information technologies.
As for the development of the two business regions, Mr. Wang expressed his best wishes, saying that the projects in the Nanjing region are located in multiple provinces and have made significant contributions to Everbright International's business scale and efficiency. Among them, Hubei Xiaochang Waste-to-energy Project achieved effective prevention and control during the pandemic and produced admirable results. As the earliest business region of Everbright International, the Suzhou region contributes the largest business scale, complies with the highest standards, develops best efficiency and offers most experienced staff to the company. Its project construction and operation are of the best quality and have won positive feedback from local governments authorities and communities, thus adding to the high-quality brand image of Everbright International. Mr. Wang encouraged all from both regions to work together and maintain a buoyant spirit in facing headwinds and thus continuous promote the full development of the businesses, in order to achieve the annual budget targets and be the best in waste sorting and resource recycling.
Mr. Wang also visited Wujiang Food Waste Treatment Project in Suzhou City, Wujiang Waste-to-energy Plant Expansion Project, and the Wujiang Shengze Waste Sorting Operation Service Project, to inspect the progress and operations of all the projects and met with the employees on-site.
Representatives of Everbright International's environmental energy sector, relevant departments and projects under the Nanjing and Suzhou business regions attended the meeting.

Wujiang Food Waste Treatment Project completed construction and commenced operation in April 2019. The project has a designed daily food waste processing capacity of 200 tonnes.
Wujiang Waste-to-energy Plant Expansion Project commenced construction in April 2020. To be equipped with three self-developed 1,000 tonnes/day large grate furnaces, the project has a designed daily household waste processing capacity of 1,500 tonnes and a designed daily general industrial waste processing capacity of 1,500 tonnes.
Everbright International recently won the bid of Shengze Waste Sorting Operation Service Project, which will provide comprehensive waste-related services, including waste sorting, collection, transferring and treatment, for 27 local residential communities, which helps to establish a "Five Points and One Line" full industrial value chain.
