Everbright International Introduces a New Era of household waste "Complete Incineration and No Landfills" to Suzhou City

(Hong Kong, 21 January 2013) China Everbright International Limited ("Everbright International" or the "Group") (HKSE:00257) is pleased to announce that the expansion project of Phase III (the "Suzhou Phase III Project" or the "Project") of the Suzhou Waste-to-energy Project (the "Suzhou Project") has passed the "72 +24" hour trial operation assessment on 14 January 2013, two and a half months ahead of the scheduled commercial operation date, introducing a new era of household waste "Complete Incineration and No Landfills" to the Suzhou Municipality.

Acquired on a BOT (Build-Operate-Transfer) basis， all of Phase I, II and III of the Suzhou Project were invested in，constructed and operated by Everbright International. By the end of December 2012, Phase I and Phase II of the Suzhou Project have processed a total of 4,763,700 tonnes of household waste and provided 11.30 kWh of green electricity. The Suzhou Phase III Project is designed to process 1,500 tonnes of household waste daily and its flue gas treatment uses the patented "SNCR deNOX + wet scrubbing + semi-dry scrubbing + spray absorber + fabric filter" technology. With the renovation project of the Leachate Treatment Plant completed ahead of schedule, the entire project has fully achieved the waste processing target of "Complete Reuse and Nil Discharge". All the emission values have fully met and are better than Euro 2000 standards. The project utilizes leading, world-class technology making it a paragon of domestic waste-to-energy projects.
