To Create Economic and Social Benefits

28 August 2014, Hong Kong – China Everbright International Limited ("Everbright International" or the "Group") (HKSE: 00257) is pleased to announce that it has signed investment agreements with the People's Governments of Huaiyuan County and Dingyuan County, Anhui Province, to invest in, construct and operate two biomass power generation projects in the two counties ("Huaiyuan Project" and "Dingyuan Project").

The total investment of Huaiyuan Project is approximately RMB600 million. It is designed with an annual agricultural waste and straw processing capacity of 560,000 tonnes, and will be constructed in two phases. The investment of Huaiyuan Project Phase I is approximately RMB330 million, and its annual agricultural waste and straw processing capacity will be 280,000 tonnes. Huaiyuan Project will be equipped with a 130t/h furnace and a 30MW power generator to generate on-grid electricity of 200,000,000 kWh annually.

The total investment of Dingyuan Project is approximately RMB320 million, with an annual agricultural waste and straw processing capacity of 300,000 tonnes. It will be equipped with a 130t/h furnace and a 30MW power generator to generate on-grid electricity of 200,000,000 kWh annually.

Mr. Chen Xiaoping, CEO of Everbright International, said, "The People's Government of Anhui Province recently issued the Options on Accelerating the Development of Agricultural Straw-to-energy Projects and the Options on Financial Subsidies for Agricultural Straw-to-energy Projects, which shows strong support for the investment and construction of biomass power generation projects in Anhui Province and which will help to address the problems which arise from the prohibition of straw burning. By securing two biomass power generation projects at one time, the Group has not only demonstrated its strength in environmental protection technology but also solved air pollution problems through the systematic treatment of agricultural waste and straw, which is in line with the country's green energy development plan. In addition, the projects have both economic and social benefits as they support and benefit farmers."
