Everbright International Secures Jiangsu Rugao Biomass Power Generation Project

7 June 2015, Hong Kong – China Everbright International Limited ("Everbright International" or the "Group") (HKSE: 00257) is pleased to announce that it has signed an investment agreement with the People's Government of Rugao City of Jiangsu Province for the investment, construction and operation of a biomass power generation project ("Rugao Project") in Rugao City.

With a total investment of approximately RMB320 million, Rugao Project Phase I is designed to have an annual agricultural waste and straw processing capacity of 280,000 tonnes. It will be equipped with a 130t/h furnace and a 30MW power generator to generate on-grid electricity of 213,000,000 kWh annually.

Rugao City is a county-level city under the administration of Nantong City of Jiangsu Province. Rugao Project and the Group's biomass integrated treatment project in Rudong County of Nantong City will operate on a model of 'one terminal covering two counties', helping to build Everbright International's strategic layout in the central Jiangsu area.

Mr. Chen Xiaoping, CEO of Everbright International, said, "The Rugao area is abundant in biomass resources. Rugao Project will contribute to the establishment of an effective collection-storage-transportation processing system of agricultural straw in Rugao City. The systematic processing of agricultural straw will help limit air pollution caused by burning and littering of straw and convert waste to energy, generating mutual benefits for local farmers, boosting economic development and curbing environmental pollution."
