Everbright International Secures Jiangsu Xinyi Animal Carcass Harmless Treatment Project and Anhui Dingyuan Hazardous Waste Treatment Project
23 December 2016, Hong Kong - China Everbright International Limited ("Everbright International" or the "Group") (HKSE: 00257) is pleased to announce that the Group has recently secured both the Jiangsu Xinyi Animal Carcass Harmless Treatment Project ("Xinyi Project") and the Anhui Dingyuan Salt-based Chemical Industrial Park Hazardous Waste Integrated Treatment Project ("Dingyuan Hazardous Waste Treatment Project"), which combined will amount to a total investment of approximately RMB372 million. The Xinyi Project is the Group's first project to harmlessly treat dead and diseased animals, commanding a total investment of approximately RMB17.78 million and designed to treat around 3,000 tonnes of dead and diseased animals every year. Everbright International will be responsible for the investment, construction and operation of the project, as well as developing a storage, collection and transportation system. Through the incorporation of the world's leading high-temperature sterilization and dehydration techniques, the project will provide services for the harmless treatment of dead and diseased animals within and nearby the city of Xinyi. Waste water, sewage and odor produced from the project will be handled centrally by the Group's existing hazardous solid waste treatment project in the city.
In light of the rapid development of China's livestock industry, there has been a growing demand for animal products and the need for the harmless treatment of dead and diseased animals. By strengthening Xinyi's ability to prevent epidemics from livestock and allow it to safely treat dead and diseased animals, the Xinyi Project will further improve the city's competitiveness in the animal products market.
In addition, Everbright International recently signed an investment agreement with the government of Dingyuan, Anhui Province, to invest and construct the Dingyuan Hazardous Waste Treatment Project. The project is designed to have an annual hazardous waste treatment processing capacity of 50,000 tonnes. The project will be invested and built in two phases on a BOO (Build-Operate-Own) basis for an operating period of 30 years. Phase one of the project is designed to have an annual hazardous waste treatment incineration capacity of 30,000 tonnes and will command approximately RMB354.5 million worth of investment. It will adopt leading global technology, with its major operating process incorporating Plasma Enhanced Melter technology, and gas emissions will fully comply with the Euro 2010 Standard. As more enterprises move into the Dingyuan Salt-based Chemical Industrial Park, the amount of hazardous waste will continue to grow, and the demand for hazardous waste treatment is expected to further increase in the next three to five years.
