22 June 2017, Hong Kong - China Everbright International Limited ("Everbright International" or the "Group") (HKSE: 00257) is pleased to announce that the Group's Suqian Waste-to-energy Project Phase II and Suqian Food Waste Treatment Project Phase I have recently completed construction and commenced operation in succession.Suqian Waste-to-energy Project Phase II has a designed daily household waste processing capacity of 400 tonnes, while its gas emissions fully comply with the Euro 2010 Standard. The project phase II commanded a total investment of approximately RMB236 million, and the construction period only lasted around 10 months. It is equipped with one self-developed 400 tonnes/day mechanic grate furnace and one 9MW turbine power generator with auxiliary equipment. Together with the project phase I, which commenced operation in 2012, the total designed daily household waste processing capacity of Suqian Waste-to-energy Project now stands at 1,000 tonnes, and is expected to generate over 134,000,000 kWh of green electricity annually. The commenced operation of Suqian Waste-to-energy Project Phase II marks the beginning of a "Zero Landfill" era for Suqian City, which will see the city transit towards a model of harmless treatment, reduction and reuse of household waste.
In addition, Everbright International announced in January 2016 that it won the bid for Suqian Food Waste Treatment Project, one of the Public-Private-Partnership ("PPP") pilot projects in Jiangsu Province. The Group holds an equity interest of 80% in the project and the Municipal Government of Suqian holds the rest. The project will have a designed daily food waste processing capacity of 200 tonnes, while the project phase I is designed to have a daily food waste processing capacity of 100 tonnes. The project is mainly responsible for the collection and transport of food waste and waste oil and grease, pre-treatment, blend-stirred anaerobic fermentation, waste oil and grease treatment, methane utilisation, deodorisation, etc.
Suqian Food Waste Treatment Project is an integrated demonstration project designed to reuse waste, conserve energy and reduce emissions. Following the commencement of operation, the project phase I will be able to provide integrated services that cover the collection, transport and treatment of food waste in Suqian City; and through the reuse and harmless treatment of food waste, the project phase I will help promote resource recycling and safeguard the city's appearance and environmental health.
