Everbright International's Laiwu Waste-to-energy Project Commences Operation

Creating a New and Comprehensive Urban Solid Waste Treatment Solution

3 July 2017, Hong Kong - China Everbright International Limited ("Everbright International" or the "Group") (HKSE: 00257) is pleased to announce that the Group's Laiwu Waste-to-energy Project ("Laiwu Project" or the "Project") Phase I in Shandong Province passed the "72 +24" hours trial run on 30 June 2017 and officially commenced operation.

Laiwu Project has a total designed daily household waste processing capacity of 1,000 tonnes and gas emissions fully comply with the Euro 2010 Standard. The Project Phase I has a designed daily household waste processing capacity of 600 tonnes and commanded a total investment of approximately RMB385 million. It is equipped with two self-developed 300 tonnes/day mechanic grate furnaces and a 12MW turbine power generators with auxiliary equipment, with a construction period lasted around 13 months. Laiwu Project Phase I is expected to generate over 60,000,000 kWh of green electricity annually.

Mr. Hu Yanguo, CEO of Environmental Energy Sector at Everbright International, said, "The Project will form a synergetic effect and share resources with Laiwu Food Waste Treatment Project, which has commenced operation earlier. The two projects have been implemented a coordinated design, construction and operation, they share same management expertise, technology and facilities, which will effectively improve processing efficiency and reduce operating costs. As a new and comprehensive urban solid waste treatment solution, the two projects will serve as an example for the development of other similar projects."
